Race For Apps Contest Open - Submit Your App Now & Help Visitors, Business Leaders and Locals During London 2012
Race For Apps is a competition, launched by Hackney Council, Digital Shoreditch and IC Tomorrow, to crowdsource mobile apps from the digital community for visitors, business leaders and journalists coming into the local area during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralymic Games.
With millions of people descending on London next year, Race for Apps invites entries in the following five categories:
- Finding Your Way: Exploring Hackney and east London, its hidden gems and headline attractions, whether online or offline, virtual or actual.
- Making Connections: Link up with like-minded people and organisations, collaborate and share what you're doing around the borough.
- Citizen Journalism: Got a story or picture? Need a story or picture? Build your own media channels, and the story of Hackney and east London.
- Fun and Games: Self-explanatory, really!
- Wild Card: This one's up to you - but remember it's for visitors to the area and the local community.
The first 8 applications we receive in each category which meet the criteria will qualify for a “lane” in the finals.

We are currently looking for a permanent Data Planner. The right person for this role will have proven experience of generating data driven, actionable insight to inform communications strategies. You’ll have worked on campaigns from segmentation, selections and testing strategies through to evaluation. You’ll bring with you a passion for data, amazing attention to detail with strong analytical and strategic skills. As one of our internal experts you’ll also need to share you wisdom as part of our Good Academy programme. We are looking for someone to come in on a 6 month contract. You will need to have managed the full digital process from scoping through to build, testing and deployment on a wide variety of projects using MS Project. You will have successfully built websites, banners, email and social media campaigns for budgets ranging from £10 to £100k.
