TSB Launches £200,000 IC tomorrow Scheme for Digital Media Entrepreneurs

ICtomorrow

A new initiative announced by the Technology Strategy Board (TSB), sees the launch of IC tomorrow, a platform for content owners and app developers to test drive ideas and applications with a closed group of consumers (sign-up here) using content from major content owners including Sony Music, Getty Images and Crytek.

The platform will host 20 consumer trials focused on the creative industries including music, TV/film and publishing, with a total fund of £200,000 up for grabs to support six month-long trials on the platform. Entrepreneurs are being encouraged to use the platform which will also include mentoring, as well as up to £10,000 per project funding and access to premium content.

Dr Nick Appleyard, Head of Digital at the Technology Strategy Board, said “IC tomorrow offers an unrivalled opportunity to trial consumer applications and business models and we’re now looking for the brightest digital entrepreneurs and organisations to submit their applications. By breaking down the challenges associated with delivering content rich applications to the market, IC tomorrow hopes to ensure the UK continues to be a leader in technology innovation.”

Applications are now open, but as with all government cash there are some hoops to jump through. A thorough reading of the IC tomorrow Digital Innovation contest brief is highly recommended (it's embedded below).

The closing date for entries is noon 11th March 2011 - and the TSB are very strict when it comes to timings, so don't be late - and require a simple business case and supporting video. Approximately 40 applications will be chosen to go through to the final face-to-face panel session at the end of March.
