Description

Manchester Digital brings to you a fascinating evening providing an insight into using Adobe AIR, an exciting platform for delivering desktop-based applications. The event aims to provide you with an introduction to the platform and hopefully give the audience inspiration for developing future projects/applications.

Andrew Shorten, Platform Evangelist for Adobe, will showcase how both consumer brands and enterprise organizations are using the Flash Platform to engage with their customers on the web, desktop and mobile devices.

Andrew will explain how AIR provides a new opportunity to strengthen customer relationships and deliver innovative digital experiences, featuring references to real projects for Nickelodeon, The Sun, Fiat and other consumer brands.

As part of the event we will also be hearing about three real world examples of where applications have been developed in this platform. We will hear from:

  • Rob Knight from PRWD who will talk about how his company used AIR to develop a simple Enterprise Resource Planning application.
  • John Knott from Interdirect who have developed an integrated and content managed retail system that include kiosks and digital posters developed in AIR.
  • Paul Kinlan who developed FriendDeck which is an open source aggregator of the real-time web built upon the services of FriendFeed.

This event is free to Manchester Digital Members and just £10 to non members.

Places are limited and we expect a high turnout to this event, so please book early to avoid disappointment.
