Description

This month at ONA UK we're thinking about Chinese journalism and what everyday work looks like when you're a Chinese journalist - the similarities and the differences. From bonus culture and the role of commercial sponsors through to the trickier issues of censorship.

The evening will aim to challenge pre-conceptions and reassess our understanding of journalism in the UK.

With:

Dr Lian Zhu - a lecturer in journalism and communication at Bournemouth University, who has prior journalistic experience in China as a television news and documentary director, and as a magazine editor. Her academic work spans Europe and China. Her cross cultural study of Chinese media in a doctoral thesis involves sophisticated understanding of commercialisation and journalistic production in China. Her research has turned in the last year to analysis of international news output in the UK and China.
