Description

Intellectual Property Rights (or IPRs) come in lots of different shapes and sizes and can exist in any form of creative contribution you or any members of your team make to the technology, content, branding or other materials that are core to your business.

This event will focus on the value of intellectual property as an asset and what you, as an early stage  tech business, need to do to acquire, protect and maintain rights in any intellectual property that you generate. In addition, we will look at what steps you should take when acquiring or licensing intellectual property from third parties. There are some simple things that you can do which will allow you to maximise the value of your intellectual property and ensure that when it comes to securing investment (or maybe even exiting your business) that you are in a position to realise that value.

Intellectual property will often be the most valuable asset held by early stage tech businesses and as a result, investors will always want to investigate whether an investee company's intellectual property is properly protected before they invest. Therefore, in the final part of this session, we will look at the measures which early stage companies can take in order to prepare their intellectual property arrangements for due diligence and investment.

The presenters for the evening will be Ciaran Hickey, Gurminder Panesar and David Deakin from Wiggin LLP, a specialist law firm in for the Media industry.

The Tech Business MiniMBA is delivered by MiniBarLabs in partnership with the ICT KTN
