Problems with FX-Spotlight Mask

I downloaded Flash3 and I could make morphs, among other things, but I can't

understand the

FX-Spotlight Mask sample, and what happens with the transparency. I would

really want to know how you made the whole sample. Why can I just see

transparency when the layer is locked? Could you please help me? I have

tried, and tried, but now im really confused about this.
