Hi Dave,

Both MSIE 3 Win95/NT and Opera fail and error when trying to send
JavaScript: from Flash. This works fine for both when used in HTML (but
not from Flash).

You can use a getURL to load an HTML loader page that plays a
JavaScript function. Disadvantage, you need an HTML page for each
command to be executed.

See my Christmas Tree project at http://www.crownmall.com/flash/xmas/
to see how I use this to control Midi. One page to turn sound on and one
to turn it off. Even if you don't have a Midi plug-in, you can see it
works on this page. The hidden frame at the bottom is not hidden on this
page. You will see a thin Green line when the Midi is playing and a Red
line when it is not.

Also, see Colin Moock's 'launching a new browser window ' Demo to
compare the three main techniques.
