At the time Flash 4 was shipped there were no known virus infections.  It's much more likely that the updated Norton Antivirus detection is incorrectly assuming that the Flash 4 Player contains a new virus.


I'll be contacting Symantec to report this problem but I don't anticipate a resolution until some time after January 3.  Most of Macromedia and most of Symantec are closed during the holiday period.


We had a similar situation occur with Director 4, where McAfee antivirus mistakenly reported Director as being infected with a virus.  They released an updated virus detection scheme which fixed this problem.


It's rare, but such incidents do occur.  It's unfortunate that this one happened at this time.
