I work for a company that does video production for a variety of clients.
Usually we create self/product promotional videos or these clients. About a
month ago we had a guy who wanted some crazy text effects and Flash was
definitely the way to go.

It was VERY easy to use Flash. Just set your frame rate to 30 (in our case)
and set the background color to something you can get rid of, usually blue
or green, it depends on the text and your video. Set the dimensions to
something your format can handle (720x480 for DV in our case). Render the
animation you create in Flash as an AVI.

Then we dropped it into Premiere, but you could also use just about any
other high-end software package like Avid or Edit*. If you wanted to do
further effects you can also drop it into After Effect and do whatever. In
our case the animated text needed to be overlaid a video clip so I set the
transparency of the text animation to the background color I chose in Flash.

Then Print to Tape and your done.

It's true that you need a fast system to see the Flash animation at 30 FPS,
but the systems we use for video production need to be fast anyway to handle
video rendering. We use dual PentiumII 450, 198Mb RAM, and most importantly
AV Hard Drives. You could definitely get away with a slower system though
for smaller jobs.

Since then we've used Flash quite a few times in video projects. It's
perfect for broadcast quality effects that would normally be a pain to try
to create in After Effects.
