Perhaps set flash to execute a local file or exe, and then that exe can
write the variables.. or, use a cookie.. there's a good tutorial somewhere.
If I see it, I'll post it.

I'm asking because I want to do something simple-- have flash write a
preferences file for a user game or application run locally.... any ideas
on how I would do this? It seems Flash *should* be able to write to a file
the way Director can...
