Fair play to Argos for their honesty...as long as the site actually does
re-open for business!

I have no problems with sites shutting - the equivalent of a cyber-lunch
time perhaps - as long as it's clear when they re-open.

I'm sure the designers could do some sort of funky clock that shows hours /
minutes till re-opening...

Externally, even an unplanned closure still looks like its part of the
schedule...

(and yes, I know online stores are meant to stay open 24 hours, but
personally I'd rather a store that was actually open for business for half
that time, than was open all the time but impossible to use)

I don't think anyone has posted this on the list...did anyone see the front
page of Argos' website last week, they basically said due to the volume of
orders they'd had to shut the site so they could ensure the orders placed
could be delivered in time.

Good policy or commercial suicide?

I liked the fact they were being upfront and honest, unusual for such an
established brand online perhaps?

I did check the site this morning but http://www.argos.co.uk was giving me a
DNS error...oops.
