Subject: Blind Readers

Related to the discussion of "the rules", for those who don't know I believe
that the RNIB in Great Portland Street now has a gallery full of computers
set up with different types of readers / decoders / helpers for the
partially sighted to allow designers / developers to see how their creations
are translated.

This technology and the issues around it crops up all over the place, see
http://www.rnib.org.uk/whatsnew/pressrel/dec2000/carsurf.htm [summary:
internet "readers" for the blind are being trial-fitted into cars to allow
motorists to access the internet whilst driving without a screen] - if that
sort of thing takes off I can see "accessibility" suddenly becoming a number
one priority for a lot of people:-)
