That's interesting.

I keep telling people that what we need is an email list service that people
subscribe to because they want to be sent special offers. Housewives (the
decision-makers when it comes to FMCG) subscribe to offline direct marketing
lists by the millions and get sent discount vouchers, free samples, etc, as
a result.

A lot of wine, CDs, books and other stuff is sold by offering regular
discounts on special packages, often associated with a newspaper "wine club"
or such like.

So where are the email equivalents? Would be a damn site cheaper to use than
postal offers, would save on a lot of environmentally damaging wood pulp,
bleach, chemical dyes, not to mention the outrageous prices charged by the
Royal Mail.

Perhaps this is what Charles has in mind. I hope so as I will be able to
find lots of customers for him if he does it well.
