Subject: UKNM: The Internet and TV
From: Vin Sumner

Having just spent a couple of days listening to various people talking about
future interactive channels, the only consistent theme was the great
diversity and the need for businesses or other services to cover all bases.
This seems particularly true with regard to the TV. Access to none, some or
all of the Internet on a TV is possible from various broadcasters/operators
with various types of walled garden, through games consoles such as
Dreamcast and PS2.and other settop devices. There is talk of enhanced TV and
interactive advertising(Chicken Tonight ??) , and then the advent of
personal video recorders such as TiVo will strip out the lovingly created
ads. Does anyone know of any good research on the likely consumer reaction
to all this, including what people will really want to do within and from
their TV set.
