The data we've seen it around 6 minutes on average for the Web, 7 for sports
sites and up to 29 minutes for some of our properties. However, you still
need to analyse the data a bit more. E.g. the average visit length might be
11 minutes, but if the users only come there once or come every couple of
months then it could be a problem. Therefore it might actually be attractive
to have a user who only spends 1 minute per visit, but does it 4 or 5 times
per day. In general, though, it's more likely that a user who comes back
that often will spend 4-5 minutes instead (something I've seen with a lot of
the football news sites).

I seem to remember reading somewhere about average site visit duration for
the Web - could be mistaken,
but it was something like around 1 minute.

We have client with av site visit length of around 11 minutes - which
strikes me as quite good.

Anyone have any thoughts/insight into av site visit durations?

Cheers
Andrew
