Fashion and Music Entrepreneurship Conferences Launched for Global Entrepreneurship Week 2012

Following the success of our SMWLDN Fashion Day, we're happy to announce two free-to-attend upcoming events, focusing on digital and enterprise in the creative industries of Fashion & Music.

Enterprising Fashion (14 Nov) and Enterprising Music (16 Nov), taking place as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week (18-22 Nov) will bring together experienced entrepreneurs, early startups and individuals thinking about taking the plunge and setting up businesses in the fashion and music industries.

Designed for current and future entrepreneurs, existing startups and established companies looking to innovate, the events will provide insight into how markets and consumers are changing, how business and business models are adapting and where this disruption provides opportunity.

Who said Social Media Can’t be Glamorous! SMWLDN Fashion Day, Thurs 27th Sept

SMWLDN is holding its first Fashion Day, kindly supported by Nokia, on Thurs 27 Sept from 9am-6:30pm at the Sport, Entertainment & Cultural Hub @ Engine.

Fashion Day, powered by Nokia, takes an in-depth look at the impact of social media on the fashion world. Taking it from the perspective of designers, journalists, and high street brands. How is data shaping the business? How new social networks such as Pinterest, and Fancy influencing the industry? All these questions and more will be addressed in this fashion-devoted day!

The day will be split in to four sessions focusing on different areas, starting with trends, followed by social media best practice, we'll then be taking a lunchtime break where some of the UK's leading fashion start-ups will be showcasing their wares. After lunch, we'll look at engagement and influence and finally, the social future of fashion.

After the success of our first Social Media Week brainstorm, the second, with a consumer focus, took place last Wednesday 7th December at Ketchum PR's offices in Shoreditch.

The aim was to explore how social media is impacting our day-to-day lives from the clothes we wear, the food we eat, the music we listen to, the games we play, the sport we do and the way our families interact online.

This time, the aim is to focus on how social media is affecting and impacting our day-to-day lives from the clothes we wear, the food we eat, the music we listen to, the games we play, the sport (some of us, ehem) do and our families.

Ralph Lauren Threatens Photoshop Critics

I totally agree with the second half of the statement you can never be too rich, there's no such thing. Too thin? Yip. You can definitely be too thin.

Not so for Ralph Lauren. They recently found themselves in a spot of hot water over some dodgily photoshopped images. They should have known something wasn't right when their model had a head bigger than her pelvis and a neck the size of a tooth pic. It was published anyway.
