BBC Radio 4 Tweetup Added to SMW London Line-up

And you thought the schedule was complete? We did.

Then the folks at BBC blogs got in touch to let us know that Auntie’s home service (that’s Radio 4 to anyone under 60) is organising a Radio 4 Tweetup (#R4Tweetup) on Thu (4th Feb at 7.30pm) during Social Media Week.

Steve Bowbrick, R4′s blog supremo, writes:

We’ve decided to chip into the programme of activity in London with a Radio 4 tweetup (that’s a Twitter meetup, an informal gathering organised on Twitter) on Thursday 4 February at 1930 in the vicinity of Broadcasting House, Radio 4′s central London home. It’s open to all Radio 4 listeners and there’s no programme of activity, no speakers and no turns. There’s also no charge. It’s not an official event, just an opportunity for Radio 4 listeners to gather in one place and take refreshment.

You’ll find info about the tweetup and a free tour of BBC Broadcasting House that’s open to 20 or so people on the Radio 4 blog. steve [dot] bowbrickatbbc [dot] co [dot] uk (Drop Steve a line) for more info and to secure a place. It sounds like a great opportunity to have a look round the Beeb’s London HQ:

The tour, provisionally, includes: an overview of Broadcasting House and the huge new BBC development that’s going up next door, the Art Deco Reception Area, The Radio Theatre, the ‘Artists’ Lobby’, Lord Reith’s Council Chamber, the 7th floor balcony overlooking Regents Street and, depending on whether they’re in use or not, a visit to a studio. Afterwards we’ll go to the tweetup venue and talk Radio 4 and social media into the small hours (or whatever).

Steve’s also working with the team at Radio 5 Live who will be publishing videos of their presenters talking about social media and how they’re using it. We’ll pop them up here, as well.
