Subject: GOTO action flashing

In technote ID: 12047, Charles Corley states :

If you are using a browser on the Macintosh platform to view Shockwave Flash movies that utilize a Goto action you may notice a white box appear briefly on your screen, either over the button area or the entire browser window at the moment that the action is passed. This is a known problem for some browsers on the Macintosh with Flash movies. There is not currently a workaround for this problem aside from not issuing a Goto action. Macromedia is working with the browser manufacturers to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

There is (almost) a workaround. Make a GIF of frame that is targeted in the goto action and use it as the background image of the page or better as the background image a table cell which would contain the flash movie. Now the tricky bit and I hope someone in the know can help here as my knowledge of HTML and browsers problems is very small.

There is an uncontrollable (?) margin when placing an image, plugin or whatever in an html page or table cell. However this margin doesn't apply to background images. This is where I need help : is the margin due to the browser or editor, is the margin the same cross-platfrom/cross-browser. What is the best way to get rid of this margin?

Ian
