Here's my take on the Masking Set-up.


At least three layers are involved.

1) The top layer is the Mask Definition Layer (arrow pointing down).

2) The Middle Layer replaces and covers the image on the lower layers

with the image on this layer (Mask Image Layer - shown as arrow pointing

down and right), only in the area defined by the Mask Definition Layer

directly above it.

3) Lower Levels are displayed when there is no Mask area defined above.


The names I use above are mine and MM documentation may call them

something else when it is available.


In the layer features pulldown you need to selecr Mask for the Mask

definition area.


To view in the editor select Show Masking in the Mask Definition layer,

to see how the Masking will appear. If the Mask Image Layer is locked it

should be unlocked before applying Show Masking.

The Mask and Mask Image layers will display as locked. Note, locking the

layers the two layers does not neccessarily create the correct masking

display, so use Show Masking.

Also, note when exporting the swf file it is irrelavent whether Show

Masking is selected or not, as this is only for viewing in the editor.
