Hello people!
I'm Pierre from Belgium! I'm new on this list.
Does someone know if there is a list of all FS command?
More specifically, I would like to know if it is possible to make a full
screen flash movie (like a CD-rom that you could download from the web).
Thank you all!

Hi Larry,

First, anyone who is qualified to run a webser should know that MIME is
required for HTTP.
Two, there is no way to know what browsers will work and which ones will
not. Two identical browsers going to the same page may get two different
symptoms. Version 3 browsers are more prone to MIME problems than
version 4 but no browsers except MCIE Win 95/98/NT are immune. Just
because most people can see the picture does not mean that the MIME is
set correctly.

Please read my tech notes on this for more details.
http://www.FlashCentral.com/Tech/Server/index.htm

Note, each cable system that uses @Home will have at least one head-end
with its own web server system.

Don't anger uninformed support people and so called webmasters, but also
don't let them pull the wool over your eyes either. Setting MIME is a 5
minute job an a normal webmaster function though you may have to wait
for the servers to be rebooted before the settings will take effect.
Adding a couple more MIME settings to the MIME table does not impact
server performance enough to be measureable if done server wide.

I think in all fairness to Bill, he was asking if there was anything
specific to look for. Sure feedback is good but it speeds the process up
greatly if we know of any particulars that you are looking for.

-----Original Message-----
What's the matter? This mailing list is supposed to be a forum for
exchanging ideas, critique, advise, and tips. If someone decides to share
his/her URLs with us it's for our benefit just as much as theirs. People
usually look for and want fellow flasher's advise and feedback. Why?
because we can all benefit from this.

The FSCommand for FullScreen is;
FSCommand
Arguments: fullscreen

Command: True

To get out of fullscreen mode change the command to false and to quit the
program while in Fullscreen mode (or any mode really) Do an FSCommand with
the argument being "Quit" and no arguments.

Yes it is. It is a little tricky but there is an example of it in Flash 3 in
the Movie Clip Library. It's called a pop up menu. We actually made one for
the Cisco Catalyst 8540 at http://cisco.com/mm/quickstart/8540/iqs8540-Lv0.htm

The trick is to make the buttons track as menu items and then make sure you
create an invisible button that surrounds the pop up menu. The invisible
button shoud tell the movie clip to revert back to the off state of the
button. If you need a more detailed description e-mail me directly.

I'd defer to David for the full details, but this particular problem is
difficult to solve. There are various things that can be measured:

- -- How many installers have been downloaded?

- -- How many installers have been successfully downloaded? (ie, full
downloads)

- -- How many installers have had hardcopy distribution, and how many of
these might duplicate other installers on the same machine? (Getting unique
installer presence is difficult.)

- -- How many of each version have been distributed? (This is the hidden
gotcha in many press releases, and the significance of versioning varies
among various players!)

QuickTime has the additional complication of requiring, not only a browser
plugin, but also a system extension... both must be measured for a
successful QT installation.

Best method I've seen so far is that done in the King & Brown survey for
Flash usage... this asks consumer-level web users whether they can see
specific content. This study got very good play in InfoWorld last week, and
you can get the source material (and survey methodology!) at
http://www.flash.com/survey/ .

Summary: It's difficult today to meaningfully compare various distribution
patterns... there are many numbers discussed, but the most meaningful still
seem to measure actual functionality rather than mere distribution.

> Also, I heard that QT4 will not stream behind some corporate firewalls.

Believe I read this too... for details I'd defer to Apple's QT4 support
site (haven't checked it yet, believe there should be a discussion board or
such), or the regular QuickTime Developers Mailing list
(http://www.lists.apple.com/quicktime-talk.html).

My reaction to this piece is "big whoop" said very sarcastically. It has
abysmal performance on a modem connection. I have been loading it for
around fifteen or twenty minutes now, and all I've gotten is about a dozen
different snatches of a second of music at a time, about every fifteen
seconds. The movie hasn't started yet, and the Flash content hasn't started
yet. I have a 56k modem, but line noise usually restricts it to around 30k.

It might be good delivered on an intranet or CD-ROM -- but I wouldn't put it
on a web site.

Loaded fine here. Not sure what our connection is but I generally get
around 130-180 kps.
Looks great! Excellent job.

Apparently Macromedia has now taken this sample off its web site. After
waiting a half hour, I tried a "reload"...Got a "page not found". Went back
to the page that linked to it and tried again -- "page not found". Tried to
read the "how to" page....."page not found". The press release is still
there, though.

Please y'all... post the best script for me.

Not using load movie, just next scene. Staying away from it for now cause
of this.

It took forever here as well, on a T1! Also, it doesn't work in Netscape 4.5,
or at least it didn't for me. (They point out there are issues with this
browser). It needs work, and possibly the streaming will get some of that
work. It does need to be improved, but...

Wow! Think about the possibilities over an intranet for CBT, archives, etc.

Appear what Flash has problems when

See examples of that in my game test:
