First these are not bus they are facts of life.

Use Aftershock and select Gif as An Alternate image.
This will result in users getting a gif alternative if they don't have
the plugin or they have a browser that doesn't support testing for the
plugin.
MSIE 95/98/NT have a separate setting as to whether they are
automatically sent to get the ActiveX control.
This is complicated and there is no one answer for everybody.
