You can download just the Microsoft Mac browser, true.


The Netscape browsers are the ones that have always included the Flash

Player in all distributions, at least since version 4.05 or so.


The Microsoft browsers do bundle the Flash and Shockwave Players in many of

their distribution, but not in all of their distribution. They absolutely

do have offer a minimal download with none of the Microsoft or

non-Microsoft goodies, but even so, this is still a 7M download.


(Although there does seem to be a QuickTime Plugin installed, this is

actually just the small shim connector... to actually use QuickTime you'd

need to have the matching version of the system extensions installed, and

that's another download about the size of the browser.)


I'd echo Matt Coyne... if you'd like all downloads to include the Flash

Player, then please contact Microsoft, thanks. (Folks here in the shop

would definitely like it, of course, but we're not managing total browser

download sizes.... ;-)


Summary: The Flash Player does ship with the range of popular browsers. The

Netscape browsers do not ship with the Flash Player. (I'm not sure about

the upcoming Netscape 6.) The Microsoft browsers are available for download

in barebones condition.
