Hi, Brian.
No, you should NOT have to break apart any text. I personally don't include
the text in my buttons, but place all the text on a separate layer in the
movie, then I just use several instances of the same button. You can resize
and color the instances of the button with no additional file size, where I
think that creating multiple button symbols may increase your file size....
