Instead of targeting like such (as explained by Gahlord Dewald):
put a bunch of them on the stage along with an action clip (great term for
those little mcs with just actionscript in them) that targets all of them
(say you name them twinkle1, twinkle2, etc. your action clip will
tell_target twinkle&i where i is a number between 1 and whatever the total
number of stars you have is).
Instead drop all your mcs onto the stage and in the action clip anonymously
target like this:
Begin Tell Target ("")
Go To and Stop blah blah blah
End Tell Target
By leaving it blank, it will target everything in that mc (not it's parent
or children).
Disclaimer: At least, I'm pretty sure that's how it's done. =)
