These types of errors are almost always reduced by using a dedicated,
fast volume for Virtual Memory, and by using DiskWarrior and
Trash*Desktop to keep your other directory structures in top shape.
The fact that the ". . . problem occurs after a couple weeks of using the
product. . .", and I presume goes away after reinstalling the
application, OS, or both, lends considerable creedence to the idea that a
slow degradation of your Directory, DB/DF and other assorted file
structures, is the source of the problem.
If turning VM or RAM Doubler off immediately aids in this problem, the
issue is only further confirmed to be one of both Directory and file
fragmentation/corruptions, easily kept in check with *regular* and
*complete* disk maintenance (less than ten minutes a week, and can be
fully automated to run while you're not waiting).
FWIW, we employ rigid maintainence on custom configs geared towards media
production, and rarely see issues working with huge and heavy FLA's
every day.

If none of the above seems to help, fall back on the obvious extension
conflict testing, disk-cache issues, display driver issues, etc.; confirm
such issues by installing a virgin OS and required updates, and Flash
*ONLY* (no Wacom, Kensington, etc) to a fresh drive or volume and see how
long it takes to repeat the issues.
