Hi Daniel
Since this instance was reported yesterday we have checked our download center to make sure we are indeed delivering the correct
versions of the player. And this is what I can confirm
Mac 68k, Version 3.0r8
Mac PPC, Version 4.0r27
Windows 3.1, Version 3.0r10
Windows 95/98/NT/2000, Netscape Plug-in compatible browsers, Version 4.0r28
Windows 95/98/NT/2000, ActiveX control for MSIE, Version 4.0r28 (4,0,28,0)
-- served by English, French, German and Japanese triggerpages
Solaris, Version 4.0r12
IRIX, Version 4.0r12
Linux, Version 4.0r12
And this is for the below link
http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash
Have you installed any other installers prior to this?
Netscape smart update?
Have you tried downloading the Netscape 4.7.2 fresh and trying to replicate the below?
Any more detailed information would be greatly appreciated :-)
Regards

sorry jd . . the problem is in netscape 4.72
if you install it with shockwave support from the first install . .
it is a version 3 and will not change from version 3 if you install a
newer version as i did many times. i had to take it off my sytem
completely and then reinstall . . with the shockwave support box
unchecked and then do an install of the flash player from macromedias
site. not a macromedia problem . . but it would be nive if the latest
versions of netscape came packaged with the latest versions of flash
player. =(

Sorry, I can't imagine a plausible way you might be perceiving an older
player distribution either.
I'm not denying what you're seeing... just saying I can't create a
plausible path to get there from the mere symptom presentation, sorry.
