Totally off-the-wall idea, but could you break up the sound file so that you
have a whole bunch of one-liners, so to speak, and manually synch them with
each portion of the presentation so that the "sound" movie clip is forced to
wait because you haven't told it to continue yet?...
Like a frame action on the main timeline tell targets the "sound" movie clip
to go to the corresponding frame housing the appropriate phrase for that
frame...
Does this make any sense? Or would it be a huge project to break up the
sound file this way? You could even do it within Flash, maybe, by dragging
the start & end handles, but that could get pretty tricky to find the right
start & stop place each time...
