Subject: FLASH: Possible bug: setting MCs property disabled ability to animate
From: Michael Marcinelli

Hello Matt,
This is in response to your format request for bug reports on the listserve. I'm experiencing a problem with Flash 4 that may be a bug, may not. Here are the "steps to
reproduce".

PLATFORM:
Flash version: 4.0 r13
player: 4.0 r7
platform: Mac PowerPC, PowerComputing 225
browser: Netscape 4.7

ISSUE:
When I set the property of a symbol (setting the alpha of a movieClip in my case) you lose the ability to animate that symbol in the main timeline. This seems analogous
to setting the puppetSprite to true in Director which places control over the sprite from the score to lingo.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR:
How can I allow a symbol to be animated on the timeline once I set it's
alpha with a script? Even after setting it back to 100 and calling play again it won't animate.

STEPS:
1)Animate a movieClip on the main timeline.

2) Create a button with a script that sets the alpha to, say, 50.

3) Either during the animation or even before the animation begins, click the button the change the alpha. The movieClip animation will not play under any
circumstances. This happens when changing any of the symbol's properties.

Let me know what you think. Thanks.
