Hey,
Ok Ive put up a demo and FLA for you to look at of a flash calendar

I did it pretty qucikly so there are still some bugs.
Basically it uses duplicate movie clip to create the calendar and uses a julian date calculation to work out what day of the week the month starts on.
At the moment you just put in the date in the text fields at the bottom and it displays the calendar but this shouldnt be hard to modify to working with passed variables from either a text file or perl script - there are tutorials a plenty around on this sort of thing but if you cant get it going let me know and I'll help you out.
one key bug - it doesnt kill off the left over days so you may find rouge 31st boxes every so often - this isnt hard to fix - just need to remove the movie clips - but anyway this should get you started
