check & double-check & mate
you've said it, & made me respond here even though i promised not to take
time to do more than "lurk" for awhile
i bought the book then got rid of it
it had come so strongly recommended that i didn't take time to go over it a
borders along with the other 5 flash books i went through & rejected
(finding the same stuff but more wordy than the peachpit press book i
already had, which is wordy enough)
as a heavy designer head, but a real newbie to flash & finding programming
the most exhausting frustrating part of the parcel, i want something that
does exactly what you guys say Flash 4 Magic doesn't: i want to know WHY. i
want to UNDERSTAND the process so that i'm really learning something.
Because if i don't, then i won't be able to figure out why when it doesn't
work.
Right now i don't think there are any good advanced books on Flash, for
someone like me---even the ulrich peachpit is a walk through on
variables---if you can recommend one, clue me in, i'd like to check it out.
TIA
sahlan

Almostt, but I managed to spit the hook out.
Careful on that one, Brett, I had somewhat the opposite reaction. It really
is a
good book but I was seriously disappointed in the underlying assumption
which is
you already know what is going on.

I must agree with Tom here. It's like painting by numbers. If you give me
the paint and tell me where to put it I can make a pretty picture, but that
doesn't make me an artist. I still don't know why certain colors look good
together, I still won't understand all of the theory that is involved in
art. Ok, well maybe that is not the best analogy, but you get the picture.
