Subject: FLASH: Bookmarking in Flash - Workaround?
From: Jason Bouwmeester

Been thinking, I haven't seen anything on here that this issue has been
solved regarding Flash and bookmarking specific portions. Anyways, I think I
may have a workaround, just haven't had a chance to test it out yet.

I know that using the FS_Command you can tell a Flash movie to start playing
at a specific frame.

I think that it is possible to have a link that says Bookmark this page but
tell it exactly what to bookmark.

Now, I would think that within a movie there shouldn't be too many pages
needing bookmarked (i.e. content only, samples, et al.) so if there isn't a
lot to bookmark:

What if one was to bookmark a page called content1.htm. Now content1.htm
would be an EXACT duplicate of the main movie page, EXCEPT it would have a
javascript funtion that would run when the page is loaded making the movie
start at Content 1 instead of the beginning. The same could be done with
Content 2, Content 3, etc.

The only reason I say this would be good with a few pages that need to be
bookmarked is because the Flash html page would need to be duplicated for
each page.

Anyways, any further thoughts on the technique I have outlined above?

HTH,
Jason
