You have to use the tell target command.  In the target box, you put

"_level1" (without the quotes) or whatever level you want to communicate

with.  Sending commands to the level number  addresses the main timeline of

that movie only.  To get to movie clips in that movie, you need to put a

slash and the the name of that film clip's instance.  The underscore before

the level name isn't in the book, but it IS required to make this work.
