Oh, and Mike, you are quite misinformed about what the french did or did

not do.

You are probably refering to PGP. It was coded in the US and as it can

not be exported in binary form, the authors published the source code on

paper using an OCR ready font and with checksums on each line. It was

published this way for 2 reasons. One so it could be legally exported

from the US and two to help scaning and converting to binary form.
