this problem was raised just a few days ago. ie 4.5 on mac seems to add an
unpreventable gap at the top of pages with flash movies on them. i tried all
kinds of body tag, frameset, and movie parameter combinations (including no
frameset at all), and finally had to conclude that the gap just can't be
removed. (just a note on the rest of this thread: other people who tested and
reported no problems were not using ie 4.5 on mac...).
jd's response (from macromedia) on the issue was to suggest we send a problem
report to microsoft. i think his suggestion was well intentioned, but it
seems to me that macromedia would have much better clout with ms than i or
any other single individual would regarding the problem. at the very least it
would be nice if mm could indeed test and verify the bug, and write a
technote about it if they cannot find a solution. (yes, it may be microsoft's
fault, but it's flash developers who need backing from an official documented
source when they explain to a client that the gap ain't going anywhere...).
fwiw the "fill the window" method does work on the other major browser
version/os combinations...
