For those who missed it, the default setting for .dcr and .swf's is NOT
savable. You are correct in thinking that database driven applications will
need to be redesigned in order to be useful in a standalone offline
environment.

If you do wish to go offline for a given audience, you could add hyperlinks
from an offline module to your database apps.

Dorian and Nigel,

I have been converting a HTML rendered online store (driven by ASP) into a
flash rendered online store. that was what I was thinking about. How does
that work offline?

The argument is moot. I only reacted when someone said something like "if
built right it will never beak when viewed offline". I have no problem with
this because Macromedia was convinced by developers that this was a bad
thing and has made the default to not downloadable. My problem is with the
remote.
