Subject: FLASH: help with drop down menu
From: simon mills

Hi,

I'm tring to create a drop down menu in Flash 4 as part of a form akin to
the drop downs used in an html form.

So far I have bastardized the combo box that comes as standard in Flash 4
so I can actually create a variable from each of the menu items and this
variable appears in the text box. However what I can't do is get this
variable to be used in an equation with other variables on the form.

So I have two other variables on the form and , x and y, and I can add
these together to appear as variable z which is diplayed in another text
field. However, the variable created in my drop down refuses to be added to
x,y or z. Why can't I use it?

Has anyone else had problems like this?

Are there any good tutorials out there on how to pass a value from a drop
down menu ?

It all seems straightforward but it just won't work. Any help would be much
appreciated.

best,

SAM
