FLASH: pop-up /hierarchical menu tips?

I've gone over the pop-up menu section in the manual over and over 

again... still, I'm missing something-the button rolls over but the 

menu frame does not appear. Anyone have a tip for me or know of a 

good "help" source, preferably online? I haven't been able to find 

more explicit info online as yet...
