Hi Mary,
With all letters selected, choose the Type tool. Then select your new color
-- all pieces of text will convert to the new color.

Alternate method:
Choose text tool
Hold ctrl down (temporary select tool) and select all with a sweep of the
mouse; or do a ctrl-A
Choose color to apply to all selected text.
