As others have mentioned, Active Server Pages. They're pages which load
dynamically and have scriptable content -- meaning that parts or all of
their content can be created on the fly.
ASP really is not that different in *concept* from using JavaScript or
CGI to make document.write calls; however CGI's a little arcane unless
you use python, and of course Microsoft wants to make money from ASP.
Furthermore ASP is more likely to interface with other MS products
seamlessly.
Me, I'm stickin' to CGI, being the crusty UNIX wonk that I am...
