Hi Alex,
This is easier to see than to explain -- it's illustrated on p. 217 in the
Flash4 manual and p. 137 in the Flash3 manual. The manual is available
online from MM in PDF format. Essentially, when you're in the sound
dialogue window, you can click on the horizontal lines that represent
volume, so that you add square handles that can be dragged up or down to
control fades. You can have up to 8 handles, and can drag them left and
right once they're established.

Well, you can do it right in the same Flash window, dragging the tiny gray
time in/ time out bars in the row between the sound waves. But for real
control you'll need a sound editor. I always recommend CoolEdit for Windows
because it's shareware and has very nice features, including the ability to
audition your edited sound in loop mode to see if it loops smoothly. Beyond
Cool Edit you might try SoundForge.
