You can change a normal layer to a guide layer but not a guided one.

You need a guided layer which is for motion paths and

not a guide layer which has nothing to do with motion paths.

A guided layer has to be created using Add Motion Guide.

You will need to copy your guide line to a guided layer, created from

the 'parent' layer you want to animate.
