I think I know why......
there are 2 settings in Flash in the MP3 settings box when you go to
export your swf.
The bit rate is the thing that changes the file size. I found that a
minimum of 32kbps was just acceptable for music, and especially music
with a vocal, but produced a much larger file size than that of the
default 16kbps
