Why dont you just set it up in tables, and make the bg color of the flash
movie the same as the html frame, then when people resize, the flash movie
stays center and the same size. Im not sure if this is what you are looking
for but if it is this is a nice workaround, which i have used.

I want a frameset-esque portfolio where the bottom frame would have a set
height and always be right at the bottom of the browser (a caption section
for text), while the top would have images that float in the center of the
remaining space.

This would be easy enough with html, however I want a hierarchy menu system
which would over lap the images in the upper frame if open. I can do all of
this in flash, but if I center it, on a large monitor it would look like a
little movie surrounded by empty space rather than dynamically resizing to
fill the space without resizing the elements (which are pixel-based images
and would look bad if scaled).

I hope that's clearer. Is this kind of set-up possible in Flash 4 as was
suggested with scripting or in Flash 5, or will I have to rethink the whole
thing?
