FLASH: Flash 5 - The new Killer App (tm) ;)

OK, I think I'm hooked on this new Flash 5.

Flash 4 was great but 5 !!!

I've been exploring it non stop for the last couple of hours, well seeing

it's 1 am this side of the pond I've been at it for about 16 hours.

Started out by writing an MD5 hash function. AS has all that I needed to

write it directly without a problem at first go. Works like a charm and only

adds about 6Kb to the movie.

Went off to test the XML stuff and ended with a movie that reads /.'s news

and displays it. Not content with that and wanting a bit more I tried the

moreover xml feeds and built a nifty movie that displays the moreover feeds

by category with full link over to the news items.

Now I think I'll set up a small java server to test the sockets.

The good news is that I'm testing this locally so I can just configure my

firewall the way I want it, but I think we'll have lot's of people

complaining they can't get this to work because of the port connections.

How hard would it have been for Macromedia to apply for a port in the under

1024 range ?
