I'm not sure which version you're in, but if you're in the current
Macromedia Flash 5, then check into the chapter titled "Troubleshooting" in
the "ActionScript Reference" volume of the Help system. It describes how to
use the variable-watching abilities of the Debugger window, and also how to
"List Variables" in the Output window.

(If you're in Macromedia Flash 4, then one way to check variable values at
runtime is the "List Variables" option in the Control menu when testing
your compiled SWFs... CTRL-ALT-V is the PC shortcut.)
