I would guess that the v just stands for "variable" in their error message,
and that perhaps you had a variable that was named "date" or some other
(prohibited? protected? Dang it what's that word where you can't use it
'cuz it's a command or function within the language?) term.

I all-the-time start out sounding like I know what I'm talking about, then
it goes downhill. ha ha

Anyway, maybe you could look for any eval(varname) and see if that varname
looks like it might be the name of a built-in function.
