Unfortunatly Yes, browser does matter, mainly because with netscape it uses
a plugin (which I think, in the case of flash, its a client side java based
applet), while in IE it uses a active-x component. Active-X components,
while harder to write than an Applet, tend to run better because it
interfaces with the opperating system better. Hence the reason for no IE
Mac Flash cant interface with opperating system.....

Surely the Flash player is very much independent of the browser ? Yes I
realise about FS-Commands and Java Script interaction but the general
Actionscript should not have any performance hits when run on one
browser or another. Or am I wrong ?

if you give us the url, we can look at the code and see if its there
that
you have a problem, but ive also experenced netscape handling flash 4
really slow if alot of scripting is going on. Espcially if you are
using
multiple flash movies in multiple frames... IE just keeps on cooking,
while
netscape plays dead. I had to simplify all of the movies to get them to
work and play.

It looks fine in IE5, but in Netscape 4.5, all I get it a big blue
square
the size of my movie, but it never plays.
