Subject: FLASH: Postings to the List

Howdy flashers

I dont know about others, but there's increasing amounts of one-liners
and person-specific list mail occuring, and, well, it's getting a bit
annoying - I love reading through this newsgroup, and find the list and the
people are a fantastic wealth of information and support. I endeavour to
read all emails in the list, time permitting, because there is so much
valuable information to be gained. But lately it's been a tedious task
reading one-liner postings that seem to have no relevance - more than often
accompanied by a large thread of tag-lines and trailers which serve no
value. Not trying to pick in particular, but, for example, this mail has
more personal link advertising than useful information.

I know it's all been asked before, and seems to not make a difference to
some - but I think many will agree some good guidelines to stick by are:
* If your response to a post is only to benefit a person directly, try
posting it to them directly, instead of the list server
* When replying to messages, delete the trail of tag-lines and footers -
especially where the same footer appears over and over and over again
* Only post one-liners that are helpful and informative - and where you
post a short reply, try to include parts of the thread that let people know
what it is you're on about!
* Keep a good sense of humour and fellowship in the list!

Well hope this isn't too out of place. I know my personal input has
been really limited, but I think this list is fantastic and I'm hoping these
suggestions will benefit everyone
And Gina, I wasn't trying to pick on you in particular! You've actually
posted a helpful response ;-)

Cheers
