Flash does not support streaming video, that's a fact. So you cannot

embed a movie into your flash app.


There are however two methods of making it seem as though you have a

movie in a flash environment. One results in rather enormous flash movie

file sizes - undesirable- and the other works with layers - also

slightly undesirable but a good bet if you really need movies in flash.


With the first option you take frame by frame your movie and import it

as a sequence of bitmaps each in its own frame. Experimenting with this

can make some very catching and interesting designs but alas your file

size will balloon as you will loose the compression offered by whatever

video format you prefer to use.


The second option works by using a layer in your HTML - <layer> or <div>

- with absolute positioning set in your style element. You then position

this layer OVER your flash embedded movie, so giving the illusion that

the movie is in fact playing inside the flash movie. Unfortunately this

does render control of the movie in the layer a bit harder and there are

small issues involved.
