What I said was it is up to the copyright owner alone to decide when and
if there is an infraction. They probably waited until the amout
accumulated to 6 million to sue on purpose and even though your friend
doesn't have 6 million he is likely to lose his web site and be out of
businees. If they collect money fine if not they have made their point
and publicity that may prevent others from infringing. (A 100 thousand
dollar case is unlikely to make headlines anywhere.)
